Arachnomancer 4

Novel · 30% Complete

It has been 10,000 years! Or, more specifically, about seven months.

In these last seven months, I’ve recovered from burnout (see the previous update below) and am ready to tackle an incredibly ambitious plan for my publishing business and Olindale as a whole.

What is this crazy-cool, ambitious, will-surely-burn-me-out-again plan? That’s a good question. For now, it’s a secret. Just know that I am actively working on Arachnomancer and related . . . things. . . .

As for burnout, I wonder if this is just a me thing, a thing to recognize as normal, a cycle for one thing to end so I can recover by doing something new and neat.

When I do something, I give my all to it. I do this until I’ve drained every drop of ambition. It’s like diving deep beneath the surface of the cool waters of lake something-something, then coming up for air. My burnouts are just me coming up for air, desperate to find a completely different thing to challenge me.

In the months I’ve been gone from writing, I built some really neat software for my client that will surely help his business grow. Then, I burned out, haha. It has taken me two months to even want to look at the code again, but I’m now back at it, excited to build new systems.

I see the pattern. A breath of fresh air isn’t taking a day off or a weekend, it’s taking a month or two to fully invest myself into some new pursuit, like mastering sourdough bread. I might have baked well over three hundred loaves since last November. . . .

It’s time to fully immerse myself in the world of Olindale again.

I’m beyond excited. I hope you are, too. :)

Keeping this so you know what happened.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably looking for the fourth book of Arachnomancer. Unfortunately, due to waning interest in the series and burnout, I have decided not to pursue the fourth book.

This is terrible, no good news! I agree. I love this series, but it’s painful writing something only a fraction of my readers will read. It’s also not sustainable.

That said, if you haven’t checked out the official Arachnomancer website, please do so! It has lots of bonus content for you to enjoy.

You can read more about what happened in my article “Is This Goodbye?

I hope to return to Arachnomancer someday, reinvigorated to finish the series with gusto rather than hobble over the finish line.

Thanks for being on this journey with me!
